The EMC electromagnetic radiation standard version of lighting appliances is updated to IEC 62493:2015+AMD1:2022

On June 15, 2022, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) issued the standard IEC 62493:2015+AMD1:2022 Evaluation of Electromagnetic Radiation from Lighting Equipment to Human Body (consolidated version), which is applicable to the evaluation of electromagnetic radiation from human exposure to lighting equipment. This evaluation includes the induced internal electric field with a frequency between 20kHz and 10MHz and the specific absorption rate (SAR) with a frequency between 100kHz and 300MHz around the lighting equipment.

Compared with the previous version 2015, this A1 standard includes the following major technical changes:

1. Conducted disturbance: the name of non power supply port is changed from "control port/load port" to "wired network port/local wired port", and the method of testing with current probe is added.

2.9kHz-30MHz radiation: For EUT diameter > 1.6m, the test method and limit value of 60cm ring antenna used in open field or semi anechoic chamber are added.

Radiation above 3.30 MHz:

① The testing frequency of darkroom method is updated from 30-300MHz to 30-1000MHz;

② Increase full wave and open field limits;

③ The CDN test method is updated to CDNE, and the limit value and measuring equipment are updated and adjusted.

4. The opening size of the conical metal cover used for the test of self ballasted lamp and ELV lamp shall be revised.

5. For the self ballasted lamp with GU10 lamp cap, when conducting the test, the conical cover and the lamp cap itself should be connected to the ground of the LISN.

6. Correct the aging time of lamps, and make it clear that LED lamps do not need aging before testing, but they still need to be stabilized for 15min.

7. Insertion loss test is deleted.
